How to Buy Proper LED Strip Lights?

Type of LED

3528 - Thin light - Ideal for most home situations for work or ambient lighting where observers are nearby. Like plateaus, under the offices, on the stairs, and around the windows

5050 - Bright light - Ideal for commercial or home use, where the observer may be farther away - Like high ceilings, used as a wall washer, outside lighting, ambient lighting for larger areas. 5050 can also be used to change color RGB or RGBW LED tape.

2835 - Much smaller and thinner than 5050, 5730 and 3528, you can see 2835 SMDs as a more efficient replacement for the 5050 producing 20% more light on the same power consumption.

5630 - Basically a stretched LED 5050 with a much wider viewing angle. The wider angle facilitates the emission of brighter performance with the same power

2216 - New innovation, much smaller and thinner than 3528 SMD LED, high-density led available as 300leds/m or 420leds/m, to achieve the best even light without led dot.

 

Color Temperature Range

5000-6500K: emits a light amount of blue and white light corresponding to daylight; best for display areas and work environments where much light is required

4000-4500K: close to sunlight, which would create a serious, calm atmosphere as well as protect the eyes in relation to other CCT, best to the classroom, library, laboratory, workshop, office and meeting room, etc.

3000-4000K: emits a luminous amount of white light. better for kitchens, offices, workplaces and vanities where work lighting is required

2700-3000K: giving the feeling of warmth and comfort or rich, warm wood to highlight the details of the grain, the best for a shopping center, boutique, restaurant, hotel, home, etc.

2100-2400K: emits a soft white glow, ideal for lounges, dining rooms, bedrooms, and open spaces

 

IP Grade

IP20 Non-waterproof: For indoor use only, such as bedroom, living room, cabinet, etc.
IP62 Silicon glue: For use in potentially damp areas, such as bathrooms and kitchens.
IP65 Silicon sleeved: For use in damp or outdoor areas, so long as the strip is not submerged in water.
IP68 Silicon encapsulated: Available for submerging in water, such as a swimming pool.

4-8mm: for cabinet lighting, cove lighting
10-12mm: regular lumen output for commercial or domestic use
15-58mm: super high lumen output for task lighting, large aluminium profiles, etc.
 

Lumen

Depending on how you are using the LED strips, you will probably want a certain level of lumens.

510-1150lm/m: Accent Lighting or Mood Lighting
570-1700lm/m: cabinet Lighting
910-1430lm/m: Task Lighting with low distance from the light source
1120-2250lm/m: Task Lighting with a higher distance from th light source
1230-1840lm/m: Indirect lighting in a bedroom/ hotel /lobby
1640-3220lm/m: Industrial lighting / signage / linear lighting

12V/24V/Constant current

Another important thing to keep in mind is the drop in tension. In DC circuits, the voltage drops gradually as it travels along a cable. Thus, voltage drops occur because the input voltage from the power supply gradually decreases throughout the length of the strip. This can result in having one end of your stripes brighter than the other end. 12V LED strips will lose voltage faster than 24V driving lanes. If you are looking to make longer-lasting applications, we would recommend a 24V tape or a steady-state tape.

Max run length when driving the strip from one side:

• 12V: 5M
• 24V: 5~10M
• Constant current: 10~15M
