2216 LED Strip Light
2216 LED strip light uses 2216 SMD (Surface Mounted Device) LEDs, where "2216" refers to the size of the LED chip, measuring 2.2mm x 1.6mm. These LEDs are very small and are designed to provide high-density, uniform illumination with minimal gaps between individual LEDs. The 2216 LED strip is known for its high color rendering index (CRI) and consistent light output.

Advantage of 2216 LED Strip Light
Compact Size and Flexibility
2216 LED strip's compact size offers greater flexibility, fitting easily into tight spaces. Perfect for modern designs, they provide effective illumination under cabinets, in cove lighting, or behind panels without taking up much space.
Dotless Light Effect
The smaller chip size of SMD 2216 allows for a higher LED density, resulting in a continuous, smooth light output. This "dotless" effect is ideal for thin and unobtrusive installations.
Better Heat Dissipation
With more LEDs per meter, each chip in SMD 2216 strips operates at a lower current, generating less heat. This improves heat dissipation, keeps the lights cool to the touch, and extends their lifespan.

FAQS
2216 LEDs have a compact 2.2 × 1.6mm package, allowing more LEDs to fit into a closely spaced layout. This makes them a good choice for refined linear lighting in cabinets, shelves, displays and slim fixtures. Compared with larger LED packages, their main advantage is greater flexibility in LED spacing and layout—not automatically higher brightness or efficiency.
Yes, at the marked cutting points. Cutting intervals vary by model and voltage. For example, our standard 120 LEDs/m model has 25mm cutting intervals at 12V and 50mm at 24V. For a fixture with precise dimensions, choose the cutting interval before finalizing the strip. We can also supply pre-cut lengths with cables fitted to simplify assembly.
A high CRI (90+) means that 2216 LED strips can render colors more accurately and naturally, which is crucial in environments where true color representation is important, such as in retail, photography, art displays, and makeup studios.
Yes. Our standard single-color 2216 strips work with compatible PWM dimmers, including RF remote-control options. Smart control is also available with a suitable controller. Match the controller’s voltage and current capacity to the strip. For single-color models, these controls adjust brightness; adjustable color temperature requires a tunable-white strip and matching controller.
2216 LED strips are primarily designed for indoor use. However, waterproof versions with a protective coating (e.g., silicone or epoxy) are available for use in moisture-prone areas or environments where some level of water resistance is needed. Always check the IP rating to ensure suitability for outdoor use.
An aluminum profile is recommended, especially for higher-power models or enclosed fixtures. Small LEDs and close spacing do not eliminate heat: the strip’s watts per meter and installation conditions determine its cooling needs. For example, our 420 LEDs/m model is rated at 24W/m and needs effective heat dissipation. A profile also provides secure mounting and holds the diffuser.
Yes. We can customize brightness, power, color temperature, CRI, PCB width, strip length, cables and waterproofing. Send us your fixture dimensions, required light output and order quantity. Our engineering team can recommend an existing model or develop a custom configuration, with samples for testing before volume production.
For concealed accent lighting, 120 or 180 LEDs/m is a practical starting point. For visible lighting behind a diffuser, consider 240–300 LEDs/m to reduce the spacing between light sources. For shallow profiles where light spots are harder to hide, start by testing 420 LEDs/m with your chosen diffuser. Select brightness separately by comparing lumens per meter.
Yes, with the right combination of LED density, profile depth and diffuser. Higher-density models bring the LEDs closer together, making it easier to achieve a smooth line of light. However, a bare 2216 strip still has individual light points. For shallow fixtures, test a sample in your actual profile before placing a volume order.
CRI 90 is a good choice for most residential, hospitality and retail lighting. Choose CRI 95 for clothing, artwork, cosmetics or finishes where subtle color differences matter. We offer CRI 90 and selected CRI 95 models. Specify both the CRI and color temperature when ordering so the lighting matches your application.
