S shape LED strip
S shape LED strips, also known as zigzag LED strips, use a specially shaped flexible PCB that allows sideways bending along curved paths. They follow letter shapes, rounded corners and irregular outlines with fewer cuts and soldered connections than conventional straight-PCB strips.
Hanron manufactures S shape LED strips in China for sign makers, lighting brands and project suppliers. Choose white, tunable white, RGB, RGBW or addressable options, with custom PCB layouts, LED density, power and lengths to suit your design.

Features of S Shape LED Strips
1. Flexible PCB designs that follow curves, letters and irregular outlines.
2. Fewer cuts and soldered joints when routing around curved sections.
3. Multiple PCB shapes to suit different bending and installation requirements.
4. White, tunable white, RGB, RGBW and addressable options.
5. Non-waterproof and silicone-coated options for different installation environments.
6. Custom PCB layouts, LED density, power, strip lengths and cables.
Create Any Shape with Bending Capability
The flexible PCB design lets our S shape LED strips bend sideways to follow letters, rounded corners and irregular outlines. Shape the strip around your layout with fewer cuts and soldered joints, making installation easier inside signs and custom fixtures. Bend at the designated flexible sections and stay within the model’s bending limits to protect the PCB and components.

FAQS
S shape LED strips are versatile and ideal for decorative lighting in various settings. They can be used to highlight architectural features, provide accent lighting in rooms, and create stunning visual effects in retail displays. Their unique shape also makes them suitable for winding around furniture or installations where traditional straight strips would be impractical.
A regular LED strip can bend up and down but is not designed to turn sideways while lying flat. An S shape strip has curved or segmented PCB sections that allow sideways movement, helping it follow letters and rounded corners on the same mounting surface.
Choose a regular strip for straight lighting runs and simple curves in its permitted bending direction. Choose an S shape strip when the installation path turns left and right across a flat surface.
Yes. Cut the strip only at the marked cutting points. The flexible sections between LEDs are not necessarily cutting points, so cutting elsewhere can damage the circuit.
Sections can be reconnected by soldering suitable wires to the designated pads or using connectors compatible with the model. Match the polarity and channel markings, and avoid placing strain on the joints. We also offer factory pre-cut lengths with fitted cables to reduce on-site assembly work.
S shape LED strips typically operate on low voltage, usually 12V or 24V DC. This low voltage operation enhances safety, reduces the risk of electrical hazards, and allows for straightforward installation with standard LED drivers and power supplies.
Yes, suitable S shape designs allow both sideways and vertical bending. However, the permitted directions and degree of movement depend on the PCB structure and any waterproof coating.
Bend the strip gradually at its flexible sections. Avoid sharp creases, forceful twisting or bending directly across LEDs, resistors and solder joints. For a design that changes direction across multiple surfaces, send us a drawing so we can recommend a suitable structure.
Start with the letter’s narrowest stroke, tightest curve and internal depth. The strip must fit inside the available space, follow the outline without excessive bending, and provide suitable spacing between light sources.
For shallow letters, closer LED spacing can help reduce visible light spots, but the result also depends on the distance to the sign face and its diffusion properties. Compare the strip’s power and light output as well as its LED density.
Send us your letter drawing, dimensions and face material. We can recommend a PCB layout and lighting arrangement for sample testing.
Many S shape LED strips can be integrated into smart home systems, allowing for remote control and automation through mobile apps or voice commands. This feature enhances convenience and customization in your lighting setup.
Our S shape range includes white, tunable white, RGB, RGBW and addressable options.
Choose white for fixed-color sign illumination, tunable white for adjustable color temperature, RGB for color-changing effects, or RGBW when you also need a dedicated white channel. Addressable models allow separately controlled pixels or sections for chasing patterns and animated displays.
Tell us the lighting effect you want to achieve, and we can recommend a suitable strip and compatible controller.
Match the power supply voltage to the selected strip, and calculate the load using:
Total power = watts per meter × installed length
For example, 5 meters of a 10W/m strip require 50W. To leave approximately 20% of the power supply’s rated capacity unused, select at least 50W ÷ 0.8 = 62.5W, then choose a suitable higher-rated supply.
The controller depends on the strip type: white uses a compatible dimmer if dimming is required, tunable white uses a two-channel controller, and RGB or RGBW uses a matching three- or four-channel controller. Addressable models need a pixel controller compatible with their IC protocol and pixel count.
For letters made from multiple sections, share your layout so we can recommend the wiring and power-feed positions.
Our S shape LED strips are available with a spray-applied silicone coating rated IP54, making them suitable for damp or humid locations. This is currently the only waterproofing option we offer for this range.
We do not recommend using them where they will be directly exposed to rain. For outdoor signs, install them inside a suitable weatherproof enclosure that protects the strips and their connections from rain and accumulated water.
