FAQS
2835 LED strips are a practical choice for cove lighting, under-cabinet lighting, shelves, retail displays and general linear lighting. For decorative lighting, a lower-output model is usually sufficient. For kitchen worktops or other task areas, choose a higher-output model. In shops and showrooms, high-CRI white LEDs help bring out the colors of products and finishes.
Start with 60 LEDs/m for concealed accent lighting where individual light spots are less noticeable. Choose 120 LEDs/m for closer LED spacing in cabinets, shelves and general linear lighting. Consider 168 or 240 LEDs/m for shallow profiles or installations where visible spots are a concern. For these applications, test the strip with your actual profile and diffuser before ordering in volume.
No. LED density alone does not determine brightness. For example, we can customize the same 2835 120 LEDs/m strip to 4.8W/m, 9.6W/m or 14.4W/m. Although the LED density is identical, the brightness can vary significantly. With the same LEDs and comparable efficiency, the higher-power version produces more light.
Compare lumens per meter when choosing brightness, and use LED density to judge LED spacing. Tell us your required light output or power consumption, and we can customize the strip to match.
Yes, 2835 LED strips can be cut at marked intervals, allowing for precise customization to fit the dimensions of different areas. This flexibility makes them suitable for various design applications.
Yes, 2835 LED strips are generally dimmable. They can be used with compatible dimmers or LED controllers to adjust the brightness according to the needs of the space, allowing for versatile lighting control.
Some 2835 LED strips are designed for outdoor use and come with waterproof coatings (e.g., silicone or epoxy) that protect the LEDs from moisture and dust. To use them outdoors, ensure the strip has an appropriate IP rating, such as IP65 or IP67, to withstand environmental conditions.
CRI 80 is a practical option for general lighting where color accuracy is less critical. Choose CRI 90 for homes, hotels, offices and most retail interiors. For clothing displays, artwork or materials where subtle color differences matter, choose CRI 95. Hanron offers these CRI options across selected white-light models.
For most new installations, 24V is a good starting point because it draws less current than 12V at the same wattage, helping reduce voltage drop. Choose 12V when your existing system requires it or when a model offers a shorter cutting interval.
Use a constant-voltage DC power supply that matches the strip voltage. As a general rule, allow an extra 20% above the strip’s total power consumption. For example, 5 meters at 14.4W/m requires 72W. Adding 20% gives 86.4W, so a 100W power supply is a suitable choice.
Yes. For standard models, 5-meter runs provide the best brightness consistency. If you need a longer run, our 24V, 9.6W/m models can support 10 meters powered from one end. We also offer 48V long-run LED strips in 50-meter rolls that can be powered from one end, reducing the need for additional power feeds.
The suitable arrangement depends on the model’s power and maximum run length. Send us your layout and we can help plan the strip sections and power feeds.
