EU Packaging Regulation (PPWR): How Hanron Lighting Supports Your Compliance
The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), Regulation (EU) 2025/40, introduces requirements to reduce packaging waste and improve packaging sustainability. It generally applies from August 12, 2026, with further requirements taking effect in stages.
For lighting brands, importers and distributors selling into the EU, packaging compliance is an important part of preparing products for the market. PPWR covers packaging such as bags, product boxes, shipping cartons and protective materials used for LED lighting products.
Understanding PPWR Documentation
Depending on the packaging and applicable requirements, supporting documentation includes four key elements:
1. Heavy Metals Test Report (download it in Hanron certificate center)
This report provides test results for restricted heavy metals in packaging materials. Hanron Lighting already has a heavy metals test report available for reference. Customers can review it through the report link provided in this article.
2. EU Declaration of Conformity
The EU Declaration of Conformity identifies the packaging concerned and declares compliance with the applicable PPWR requirements. Hanron can provide supporting packaging information to help the responsible party prepare this declaration.
3. Technical Drawings
Technical drawings describe the packaging’s structure, dimensions and components. They help connect the packaging being assessed with the materials and specifications recorded in the supporting documents.
4. Technical Documentation
Technical documentation brings together the packaging description, material specifications, assessment information and relevant supporting evidence. The heavy metals test report, technical drawings and other applicable records form part of this documentation.
